Re: Odd FTP Issue

I was thinking the same thing, but that does not seem to be the case.
There are no host entries in the hosts table on the production machine
for sure.

nslookup on the production machine reports the same as my laptop does.

But...here is the interesting thing that I can't figure out...

When I log on to the server, they have a big long login message
explaining how important the FTP server is and shame on you if you are
not supposed to be there, etc...

But, at the bottom of the message, here is what I see.

Backup system
220-
220 Edge01 FTP server (SecureTransport 4.8) ready.

Production System
220-
220 edge02 FTP server (SecureTransport 4.8) ready.

Note the "Edge01" versus "edge02"

And, get this...I just tried from my laptop which had been working and
landed on "edge02" and could not log in!

My thinking is that they are using some load balancing type of system to
pass traffic across a couple of machines behind the main DNS name/IP and
when I land on the "edge02" one, it has some issue that is stopping me
from logging in.

I'll go back to them with this theory and see what they say...
