RE: HTTPAPI novice having (CCSID-related?) trouble with EXAMPLE15
Debug.txt from EXAMPLE15 reveals the following:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HTTPAPI Ver 1.23 released 2008-04-24
OS/400 Ver V6R1M0
SetError() #66: XML parse failed at line 1, col 0: syntax error
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(not much more enlightening than my original post...)

p.s. I appended a `5' to the subject line, to indicate the example15
I'm actually concerned with.
I hope that doesn't mess up the archive threading too much.

Oops. Upon further examination of the IFS, I found the
sock/tutorial.pdf, and it looks wonderful.
Sorry about the false alarm.
The issues I have with Example15 are real, though. I don't have a
debug.txt on that (yet) but I might be
able to make it write one. I'll get right on that.

Subject: HTTPAPI novice having (CCSID-related?) trouble with EXAMPLE1
I'm exploring HTTPAPI examples and having only marginal success. Was
not able to find the answer in
the archives using a variety of searches.
I installed V1.23 onto our V6R1M0 box on Monday. Added the
pre-compiled EXPAT objects (version 2.0.0)
and re-ran INSTALL to integrate that with HTTPAPI. After
familiarizing myself with the code, I tried to run
a couple routines "out-of-the-box".
Running EXAMPLE15 got me a listing with "XML parse failed at line 1,
col 0: syntax error". I determined
that it probably had trouble translating during ParseXML
(wkElemRoot.errcode= 2).
I went on to EXAMPLE1, and that produced a httpapi_debug.txt file
(attached).
Is there a CCSID setting I need to change (hoping to see results in
US-English)? Exactly how and where
do I specify the values? Or is there something else I'm missing?
I hope to get a good understanding of these processes for an upcoming
project that will require
communicating with external systems via xml.
Thanks.
