As Scott said, you should not get the same error when using the IP.

Use the IP, then send the debug log.

That makes sense when using a DNS name (aka host name).   It does not make sense when using an IP address. If you're using an IP address, how could a host name lookup fail?  There's no host name. 

Please double check that you're getting the same message.  If you're getting a different one, please post it here.
