Yeah, FTPAPI allows either 226 or 250.

That's beside the point... the point is that this message (226, 250 or 
whatever) is the way the server indicates a successful transfer to the 
client.

A server has no business timing out the connection before it sends that 
message.  (Unless the data channel has also timed out.)
