RE: logs in web service

Javier,

This is a general reply of how you would expect from a web service log.

The log tracking depends on the configuration of the web server and web services, but as rule of thumb, most web servers are configured to log detailed web calls.

Keep in mind that any web service is served by a web server like Apache, IIS, Tomcat, etc (similarly to a web page request using a web browser) and most companies want to know who/when is accessing their web server for security/statistical purposes.

Now, the tool to render the web service like HTTPAPI can also keep a log, and the programs behind the web service could also log their own stuff.

So in short, the log tracking can happen in both places and at different levels upon configuration.

Hope this is a good reply of what you are asking.

Subject: logs in web service

Hi,

My name is Javier Moreno, and I need to know if when you call a web service (in other machine) from an RPG, leave any trace or logs in iSeries.

Thanks in advance.

Javier Moreno.
