Re: example to use the MD5 function



SHA-1 and MD5 are alternatives to one another.  You cannot use MD5 to 
make a SHA-1 hash... you have to use SHA-1 for that.

The openssl tool that comes with IBM i is a relatively easy way to make 
an SHA-1 hash.  IBM also provides APIs, but they require a bit more 
expertise.
