FTPAPI Login Problem

I am trying to connect to an ftp server and put a file on it using the
   TESTPUT sample.
Having put the server name, username, and password in the correct
place I get a Login Incorrect message. Username and password both
work if I do a manual connection using the iSeries command line FTP.
I was wondering if this could be a CCSID problem? My password has a
'£' sign in it, our iSeries is setup as CCSID 65535, in FTPAPIR4 I
have found reference to CCSID 37, and I presume that the PC FTP I am
trying to connect to is either CCSID 819 or 285? Should this be a
problem? Does the CCSID of the job/system affect how the password is
translated on the remote FTP server?
   Thanks
   Steve
