HTTPAPIR4 won't compile in V4R2 compiler

Figured out one of the problems. The
     /if defined(*V5R2M0)
won't compile because predefined conditions in general, and the *VxRyMz 
condition in particular, didn't come in until at least the V4R4 compiler.

Can anybody suggest a workararound, short of physically excising the 
entire conditional block from my copy of the source?
