RE: Get CSV file

Another thing you could do is parse the commas inside your program and
put them directly into your DB file. Same thing on the way out (better
than CPYTOIMPF, no extra blank spaces). This would also allow you to
validate the data and send an email to the user that all is ok or there
is an error with the data. Another thing you could use is HSSF to
write/read the spread sheet as an .xls instead of a .csv.

No, but you could use FTPAPI get the file and place it into a folder in
the IFS, then
subsequently use CPYFRMIMPF to copy the file from the IFS to the
database file, and
vice-versa.

Subject: Get CSV file

Hi All,

FTPAPI is GREAT! I do have a question about the get command. I need to
get a CSV file from a server and place it into an iSeries physical file.
The user will perform some maintenance duties on the file and then put
it back to the server. The get works well when I am using a flat file.
It does not work when the file contains more than one field. I think
that I know the answer to this but I promised my boss that I would ask:
can the get command place a CSV file into a physical file with multiple
fields, in other words removing the commas and parsing the data into the
fields? The opposite would be needed with the put command.

Thanks so much for your time!

Jan
