Did you ever get this working with HTTPAPI?

If not, please post the code and debug.txt to the news group. I will have
some time this weekend to look it over and see if I can get it to work from
here.

If you did, maybe a quick note about what fixes a 601 would help the next
guy.

Has anyone used the HTTPAPI to retrieve data from Googles GeoCode process. I
can't seem to get it to return the data. Just keep getting back a 601 error
