Re: Unusual Apache server error

Hi Scott and Mike,

Thank you both for all you help - I think we have the appropriate PTFs -
the one mentioned in the first URL was, as you say, superseded. The
discussion on the character conversions was indeed illuminating and has
given me some ideas should all else fail. Luckily our design would allow us
to quickly adopt a "roll your own" approach to character translation. It's
a curious problem in that it is peculiar to a very small set of inbound
posts which are much like many other similar posts, yes they are large
(200+K) but by no means the largest that the server has handled
successfully.

Anyway thank you again for your help and keep up the work with the
wonderful HTTPAPI which has become core to our outbound interfaces.

Kind Regards

Hi Mark,

A quick search of IBM's site finds the following APAR (which points to
some PTFs) related to the error you're receiving:

http://tinyurl.com/2q4f8a

The PTFs that the APAR mentions are superceded... I'll leave it up to
you to figure out what the latest versions are, if the problem
description fits your environment.

There was a (somewhat) related discussion on the System iNetwork forums
about character translation. Unlike the preceding APAR, this isn't
directly related to your problem, but it *is* related to translating
data during a CGI request. Makes me wonder if we wouldn't all be better
off doing our own character set translation, instead of relying on IBM's
buggy code!
