Sure.  And don't worry about offending me! You're not going to offend me
with anything technical related.  I freely admit my ignorance in all things
network related and Lord knows I don't know as nearly as much as I think I
do about most other programming topics. :-)

With all due respect, the symptoms of a blocked port are very different from
the symptoms of a DNS configuration problem.

Can you tell us what error message(s) HTTPAPI is returning?  Or post a debug
log?
